Sheung Yu Tea House was founded in 1980 by Dr. K.S. Lo, a devoted collector specializing in fine Chinese
ceramics teawares and Yixing teapots. In order to promote Chinese tea culture, Dr. Lo supported the
establishment of the Flagstaff House Museum of Teaware at Hong Kong Park in 1984 by generously donating
many of his precious collectables to the Museum.
Sheung Yu first started the business whole-selling Yixing teapots, good quality teawares, fine Chinese
ceramics and premium Chinese tea. Hoping to introduce Chinese tea culture to the public, we opened our
first retail shop in 1991 inside the Flagstaff House Museum of Teaware. Over the years, our tea expert
Ms. Elaine Lau and her team have been invited to perform tea-demonstrations and organize exhibitions for
various organizations including the Flagstaff House Museum of Teaware, schools, government departments,
the Hong Kong University etc.
Our Kowloon Shop was opened in 2000 to provide a cozy warm place for tea-lovers to appreciate tea. In
the shop we offer a wide selection of teawares and tea for tea-lovers to choose and taste.
